On October 14, 2021，Ambassador Liu Shaobin met respectively with Mr. Gökmen Çiçek, Governor of Afyonkarahisar Province and Mr. Mehmet Zeybek, Mayor of Afyonkarahisar City. They exchanged views on China-Türkiye relations, especially exchanges and cooperation at the local level between the two countries. Ambassador Liu said that local exchanges constitute an important part of China-Türkiye strategic cooperative relations. Fine products such as marble and cherries produced in Afyon are very popular in the Chinese market and have become famous brands in Türkiye’s trade with China. The Chinese Embassy in Türkiye is willing to promote cooperation between Chinese cities and Afyon, so as to contribute to greater development of strategic cooperative relations between the two countries.

Governor Çiçek and Mayor Zeybek said that Afyon is an important transportation hub of Türkiye, with outstanding advantages in agriculture, livestock, mining and processing industries. China is one of Afyon’s most important overseas markets. The provincial and municipal governments of Afyon are ready to work closely with the Chinese Embassy to bring local cooperation and the overall China-Türkiye strategic partnership to a higher level.
