On January 21, 2022, Ambassador Liu Shaobin met with Dr. Uğur Erdener, Member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and President of the National Olympic Committee of Turkey.

Ambassador Liu Shaobin recalled the “Together for a Shared Future” Beijing Winter Olympics Photo Exhibition that they attended together not long ago. Ambassador Liu expressed high appreciation to President Erdnell for his firm support for Beijing Winter Olympics and opposition to the politicization of sports in his recent interview with China Media Group and the Turkish media. With the opening of the Beijing Olympic Winter Games around the corner, China is ready to work with the international community to carry forward the Olympic spirit of solidarity, fraternity, fair competition and mutual understanding，and present to the world a streamlined, safe and splendid Games. China welcomes Turkish delegation and athletes for Beijing 2022, and will facilitate their smooth participation in the games. We hope Turkish athletes will give their best performance on the stage of winter Olympics and wish them a great success .

President Erdnell stressed Turkish Olympic Committee’s full  support for the Beijing Olympic Winter Games. He reiterated the importance of separation between sports and politics and stressed that we should jointly oppose the politicization of sports. He believed that the Beijing Winter Olympics will make history  and bring more surprises to the world, just like the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The Turkish Winter Olympics delegation will leave for China next week. Turkey looks forward to witnessing a  safe and splendid Games presented by Beijing.
