On November 11, 2022, the Chinese Embassy in Türkiye held the 2022 Symposium on Sinology and Contemporary China entitled “China’s New Journey, New Opportunities for Cooperation”. Ambassador Liu Shaobin attended the symposium and delivered a speech. More than 20 sinologists and experts on Chinese affairs from Ankara University, Turkish Historical Society and other institutions participated in the symposium. Minister Counsellor Li Qin and Counsellor Qian Xinyi were also present.
Ambassador Liu Shaobin briefed the audience on the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to experts and scholars, emphasizing that the most important achievement of the conference is the election of the new central leadership with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, which reflects the common wish of the whole party and all Chinese people. The conference makes the blueprint for the future development of China. The Chinese people will strive in unity under the leadership of the new CPC Central leadership with General Secretary Xi Jinping at its core, set out on a new journey toward building a modern socialist country in all respects and advance the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization.
Ambassador Liu thanked all experts and scholars for their long -term commitment to and support for the development of China-Türkiye friendly relations. He stressed that sinologists and experts on Chinese affairs play an important role in promoting mutual learning and mutual understanding between China and Türkiye, and hoped that all experts and scholars will serve as a bridge for all circles of Türkiye to better and correctly understand China and give more advices and make more contributions to China-Türkiye relations.
Participating experts and scholars stated that they paid great attention to the grand blueprint for China’s future development made by the 20th CPC National Congress. It is believed that China’s new development will bring new opportunities to the world as well as to China-Türkiye strategic cooperative relations. Currently, the world and regions are undergoing profound adjustment. China and Türkiye should work together to contribute to the world peace and development.
Experts and scholars said that public opinion plays a very important role in developing China-Türkiye relations. As scholars studying China, they are willing to put more efforts in academic discussions, cultural exchanges, and media co-construction in the future to increase correct mutual understanding of each other.
